SPEAKERS

Ying-Chen (Jean) Lin

Jean is a postdoctoral research associate in Kornmann’s Lab at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford, UK. She studies inter-organelle lipid transport in Saccharomyces cerevisiae to understand the biogenesis of cellular membranes. You can find her on X: @jeanycl.

Ling Chuang

Ling is a fresh postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Germany. Her current research focuses on discovering and characterizing transporter proteins for plant natural products. She studied triterpenoid biosynthesis in plants for her doctoral thesis at Leibniz University Hannover.

Charlotte Gommers

Charlotte Gommers is an assistant professor in Plant Physiology, working at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Before she started in her current position in 2019, she was a PhD candidate at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and a postdoc at the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (Barcelona, Spain). Charlotte now happily supervises a research team with 3 PhD candidates, a postdoc, and two technicians. Together, they study how the environment affects chloroplast development and signaling. She teaches approximately 25% of her time. Besides being a researcher and lecturer, Charlotte is a mom of a 2.5-year-old and a second child is on its way.

MODERATORS

Ching Chan

Ching’s group is broadly interested in plant-microbe interactions under different environmental conditions and the application of this knowledge to crop improvement. Using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, they explored the fundamental mechanisms of membrane receptors and ion channels in modulating plant immune response against bacterial and fungal pathogens. To extend the application potential of these genes, their homologs in crop plants are also under investigation! You can find him on X: @ntnuchanlab.

Yueh Cho

Yueh is a senior postdoc fellow at the Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, majoring in plant biology with expertise in protein homeostasis. He used Arabidopsis thaliana to mechanistically study ribosome behavior during translation and protein quality control inside the endoplasmic reticulum in response to the surrounding environment. You can find him on X: @YuehCho1984.

Rigel Gamboa-Salinas

Rigel is a biologist interested in plant genetics, basic and applied research. She recently finished her PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding in Cologne, Germany on recombination in centromeric regions in Arabidopsis. She is also very interested in science communication and in creating a collaborative atmosphere among scientists You can find her on X: @Rigelitactica.
