Tuan Long, co-first author of RMS2 encoding a GDSL lipase mediates lipid homeostasis in anthers to determine rice male fertility

Brief bio: After obtained my bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Huazhong Agricultural University, I continued my Ph.D program there under the supervision of professors Qifa Zhang and Changyin Wu. During the time, I focused on the studies in rice functional genomics. My thesis work revealed the characteristics of T-DNA and Tos17 insertion sites, and the function of OsaTRZ2, a gene encoding a tRNA 3’‐end processing enzyme tRNase Z2 in Chloroplast. I got my present job after the Ph.D degree. Now, I’m dedicated to develop new hybrid rice technologies using recessive nuclear male sterile genes. The present work about RMS2 becomes an important step to approach my career goal.

简介:在获得生物技术学专业士学位后,我进入华农作物遗传改良国家重点实验室,师从张启发和吴昌银教授开始硕博连读的学习。我当时的研究工作主要集中在植物功能基因组学方向。我的研究揭示了T-DNA和Tos17插入位点的特征,克隆并分析了OsaTRZ2的功能,证明OsaTRZ2是一个在叶绿体中参与tRNA 3’末端加工的tRNA酶。博士毕业后我获得了现在的工作,并将研究兴趣转向利用隐性核雄性不育基因开发新型杂交水稻育制种技术上来。RMS2的克隆和功能分析展示了我工作中取得的一部分重要进展。
