Xiaochang Yin: The Plant Cell First Author

Xiaochang Yin, co-first author of “Binding by the Polycomb complex component BMI1 and H2A monoubiquitination shape local and long-range interactions in the Arabidopsis genome”

Current Position: Postdoc, School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, China

Education: Ph.D., Hainan University, China

Brief bio: During my Ph.D. study, I worked in Professor Xingyu Jiang’s lab, mainly to dissect the molecular mechanisms underlying plant salt tolerance. In the postdoc stage, I joined Dr. Yue Zhou’s lab in Peking University in 2020. I studied plant epigenetics, with a main focus on the molecular mechanism of Polycomb Group (PcG) proteins regulating chromatin structure in Arabidopsis. In this work, we show that Arabidopsis genome is partitioned into contiguous compartment domains (CDs) with different epigenetic features. The histone-modifying Polycomb group machinery has been involved in 3D chromatin organization, which is required to maintain appropriate intra-CD and long-range interactions.
