Brief bio: I have long been fascinated by biology, but this interest didn’t extend to plants until I took a part-time job washing dishes in a barley genetics lab during my last year of undergraduate studies. The dishwashing happily morphed into a thesis project with Tom Blake on mapping QTL for feed-quality-associated traits in barley. Thereafter I was lucky to do dissertation research and a brief postdoc studying jasmonate metabolism and physiology in the lab of John Browse. I have been enjoying the lab of Kiwamu Tanaka for two years while researching the signal transduction of extracellular ATP downstream of its plasma membrane localized receptor.
