Brief bio: I was born on the island of Jamaica and grew up in the town of Savanna-La-Mar in the parish of Westmoreland. I received my B.S. in Biology from Virginia Union University (VUU) in 2000 and PhD from the Department of Plant Biology and Pathology at Rutgers University in 2006 under the direction of Dr. Thomas Leustek at Rutgers University. I joined the faculty at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008 following a post-doctoral stint at Rutgers.  I am currently Professor and Head of the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology where I teach courses in cell/molecular biology, plant biochemistry/pathology and genomics. The overarching theme of my research program is in the area of amino acid metabolism.
