Huang Sheng, co-first author of OsCASP1 is required for Casparian strip formation at endodermal cells of rice roots for selective uptake of mineral elements

 Brief bio: After I received my master’s degree in Agricultural Resources and Environment from Jilin University in 2017, I joined Prof. Jian Feng Ma’s lab at the Institute of Plant Science and Resources, Okayama University in Japan. I am interested in transporters involved in mineral element uptake and translocation. Now I am working on regulation of mineral element homeostasis in rice. In this study, in collaboration with Prof. Jixing Xia’s group in Guangxi University, we found that Casparian strip at endodermis play an important role in controlling the uptake of mineral elements especially Ca and Si in rice. I am enjoying my research now and hope to make better progress in the understanding of mineral transport system in future.

个人简介:2017年硕士毕业于吉林大学农业资源与环境专业后,我有幸进入到日本冈山大学资源植物科学研究所马建锋教授实验室攻读博士学位。我们实验室在矿质营养元素吸收和转运相关的转运体方面有着很好的研究基础。目前,我主要进行水稻中调控矿质元素稳态的研究。在本研究中,通过与广西大学夏继星教授课题组合作,我们发现OsCASP1在水稻内皮层凯氏带的形成中发挥重要作用,并且对水稻矿质元素的选择性吸收有着显著的影响。我非常享受我目前的研究工作和生活,我希望在未来的研究中能取得更好的进展和收获。
