Huan Zhang, co-first author of IbBBX24 Promotes the Jasmonic Acid Pathway and Enhances Fusarium Wilt Resistance in Sweet Potato

Brief bio: I received my Ph.D. from College of Agriculture and Biotechnology at China Agricultural University and the Key Laboratory of Sweet Potato Biology and Biotechnology of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs under the supervision of Prof. Shaozhen He. Then I joined Prof. Jigang Li’s lab as a Post-doc at the State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, College of Biological Sciences, China Agricultural University. My research mainly focuses on molecular mechanisms of sweet potato resistance, and root formation and development regulation. I have published 9 SCI papers and participated in the development of three new certified sweet potato varieties. I received a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grant and a Postdoctoral Science Foundation grant in China. Working together with Prof. He’s team, I have identified a number of genes involved in the regulation of stress resistance and tuberous root development in sweet potato. In the current paper, our research shows that a sweet potato B-box (BBX) family transcription factor, IbBBX24, plays a pivotal role in regulating JA biosynthesis and signaling, increasing Fusarium wilt resistance and yield in sweet potato. IbBBX24 also participates in the JA pathway by modulating the JAZ-MYC module in sweet potato. In addition, the interactions between JA signaling and different F. oxysporum f. sp. in plants is discussed in the paper.

个人简介:我于2011年进入中国农业大学农学院农业农村部甘薯生物学与生物技术重点实验室学习,在导师何绍贞教授的指导下,从事甘薯抗性与块根形成发育相关基因的克隆与分子机制研究,我们团队目前正在对已筛选克隆到的一些甘薯抗性与块根形成发育相关的基因进行深入研究。2017年获得中国农业大学作物遗传育种专业博士学位后,我进入中国农业大学生物学院植物生理学与生物化学国家重点实验室李继刚教授课题组进行我的博士后研究,继续之前的研究方向。目前发表SCI论文9 篇,参与育成甘薯新品种3个,主持基金两项,其中国家自然科学基金青年科学基金项目1项,中国博士后基金面上一等资助项目1项。在本研究中,我们发现甘薯B-box (BBX)家族转录因子IbBBX24能够结合在茉莉酸信号转导途径关键基因IbJAZ10IbMYC2的启动子上,抑制IbJAZ10但激活IbMYC2的表达。同时IbBBX24可以直接与IbJAZ10相互作用,从而减轻IbJAZ10对IbMYC2活性的抑制作用。IbBBX24在调控甘薯中茉莉酸生物合成和信号转导、提高甘薯蔓割病抗性和产量方面起着关键作用。研究还对茉莉酸与植物中不同F. oxysporum f. sp.之间的相互作用进行了讨论。
