Qing Zhou, first author of “Heat shock-induced failure of meiosis I to meiosis II transition leads to 2n pollen formation in a woody plant”

Brief bio: After completing a bachelor’s degree at Shenyang Agricultural University in 2017, I entered the College of Biological Sciences and Technology of Beijing Forestry University, under the supervision of Dr. Pingdong Zhang. For my master’s thesis, I worked on the cytological and molecular mechanisms of induced 2n pollen in Populus canescens. I used two induction methods – colchicine treatment and heat shock – and found the heat shock stress simpler than colchicine treatment. Moreover, a percentage of heat shock-induced 2n pollen could exceed 50% at diplotene stage. Thus, the mechanism of heat shock induced 2n pollen formation was conducted when I got enrolled in a PhD program. My research results about colchicine induced 2n pollen formation were published in the journal of Frontiers in Plant Science.

个人简介:本人于2017年毕业于沈阳农业大学,同年进入北京林业大学生物科学与技术学院硕博连读。在张平冬教授的指导下,我的研究方向是探究银灰杨2n花粉的细胞及分子机制,诱导2n花粉的方法包括秋水仙碱处理和高温诱导。在研究过程中发现,高温诱导型2n花粉的比例能够达到50%以上,且操作更为简便。在此研究的基础上,本人在开展博士课题期间揭示高温诱导银灰杨产生2n花粉的机制。秋水仙碱诱导银灰杨产生2n花粉的相关研究成果已发表在Frontiers in Plant Science 杂志上。
