Parveen Akhtar, first author of “Trimeric Photosystem I facilitates energy transfer from phycobilisomes in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803”
Current Position: Postdoctoral researcher, Biological Research Centre, Szeged
Education: 2018 PhD in Biology, University of Szeged, Hungary
Non-scientific Interests: swimming, nature, travel, baking
Brief bio: I grew up in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. I studied biology at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University of Muzzaffarabad and the Arid Agricultural University of Rawalpindi. In 2012 I moved to Hungary and got my PhD degree from the University of Szeged. At the Biological Research Centre, Szeged, I study the mechanisms of light harvesting in photosynthesis, the dynamics and regulation of excitation energy transfer in photosynthetic membranes and proteins. I like to believe that uncovering nature’s secrets to the harnessing of solar energy can help make the planet better for all living beings.
