Hong-Sheng Liao (James): Plant Physiology First Author

Hong-Sheng Liao (James), first author of “Arabidopsis ACT DOMAIN REPEAT9 represses glucose signaling pathways”

Current Position: Research Assistant, Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Ming-Hsiun Hsieh group, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan

Education: 2021, M.S., Department of Biochemical Science and Technology, National Taiwan University; 2019, B.S., Department of Biochemical Science and Technology, National Taiwan University

Non-scientific Interests: table tennis, reading, K-POP and Korean drama, guitar

Brief bio: Since high school, I have aspired to explore the principles of the natural world as a scientist and benefit society with my research. In the summer of my freshmen year, I joined Dr. Ming-Hsiun Hsieh’s lab to study plant nitrogen (N) metabolism and signaling. We aim to explore the signaling roles of glutamine and glutamate, the first organic N synthesized in the primary N assimilation pathway, in regulating plant growth and defense. I am now ready to pursue doctoral studies to continue my exciting and delightful research journey. In the future, I plan to conduct research as a plant scientist, studying the molecular mechanism underlying plant nutrient signaling, stress responses, and developmental biology.
