Non-scientific Interests: Hiking and teaching kids

Brief bio: I am a research associate in Chang-Jun Liu lab, BNL. We are interested in understanding phenylpropanoid-lignin biosynthesis and the related regulatory mechanisms. I am particularly interested in studying how the interactive partners of key enzymes in phenylpropanoid pathway can affect lignin biosynthesis and further impact the cell wall structure.  In the current paper, our research showed that cytochrome b5 isoform D (CB5D) physically associates with monolignol P450 enzymes and is an indispensable electron shuttle protein specific for S-lignin biosynthesis.

Previously, I was a postdoc in Markus Pauly lab at University of California, Berkeley, where I worked on exploring mechanism of O-acetylation of mannan and did Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for lignocellulosic/cell wall traits in Sorghum.

Before joining the Pauly lab, I worked under the supervision of Dr. Laigeng Li at Institute of Plant Physiology & Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. As a Ph.D.’s student I focused on the molecular mechanism of plant vascular development and secondary cell wall formation. I have been working in the field of plant cell wall since I became a PhD student.

简介: 我现在是美国布鲁克海文国家实验室刘长军组的一名研究助理。我们实验室致力于研究植物苯丙烷-木质素的生物合成及其相关调控机制。目前我在研究木质素生物合成途径关键酶的相互作用蛋白如何影响木质素的合成及细胞壁的结构。在本研究中,我们发现细胞色素b5异构体D能与木质素单体生物合成途径的P450酶相互作用,是 S型木质素生物合成途径中一个特异的电子穿梭蛋白。

加入刘长军组之前,我曾在加州大学伯克利分校的Markus Pauly组做博士后研究,主要工作是研究甘露聚糖的乙酰化机制以及高粱中木质纤维素相关性状的全基因组关联分析。
