Brief bio: During my doctoral studies at Huazhong Agricultural University, China, my research was focused on interaction between cotton and Verticillium dahliae, and I found a laccase gene from upland cotton could modulate broad-spectrum biotic stress resistance (Verticillium dahliae, cotton bollworm and cotton aphid) via manipulating phenylpropanoid pathway and jasmonic acid synthesis. After my PhD, I continued my research on the communication between pathogen and host, to find out how does the host recognize a specific invaders, how does pathogen suppress the plant’s immunity system to make sure it’s survives, and how does the host balance growth and defense.
