Brief bio:
My interest in crop genetics was developed while doing my Master studies at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), in Aleppo, Syria. Later I joined the group of Prof. Maria von Korff at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne to do my PhD and learned more about the developmental biology of cereal crops, specifically, the regulation of flowering time in barley. After that, I moved to the lab of Prof. Klaus Theres at the same institute to work on another very interesting crop, tomato, as a model to understand genetic pathways regulating shoot branching.
