Maurizio Camagna, first author of Enzyme fusion removes competition for geranylgeranyl diphosphate in carotenogenesis

Brief Bio: I first pursued a career in computer science, though after discovering the fascinating world of biology, I couldn’t help but to eventually switch my career to biology. I thus obtained another Bachelor degree at Würzburg University, followed by a Master degree at Freiburg University.

While my educational background allows me on times to combine computer science with biology, my scientific interest lies first and foremost in plant physiology and plant biotechnology. I was lucky to end up in Peter Beyer’s Golden Rice lab, where I worked on carotenogenesis, namely PSY and GGPS with my dear supervisor Ralf Welsch. I since then moved to Nagoya, Japan, where I mainly focus on another part of the isoprenoid pathway: sesquiterpenoid phytoalexins. I also meddle in promoter sequence analysis, plant elicitors and plant defense signaling.
