Jingyuan Chen, first author of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum Circumvents Flavonoid Defenses by Catabolizing Flavonol Glycosides and Aglycones

Current Position: PhD candidate at Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (Jena, Germany)

Education: PhD in Biochemistry, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology; Master in Plant Pathology, Jilin University; Bachelor in Horticulture, Jilin University (Jilin, China)

Non-scientific Interests: traveling, reading, movie-watching

Brief bio: The more I study phytopathogens, the more I realize how versatile they are. They have more innovative mechanisms to adapt to host defenses than most other organisms. This also motivates me to continue studying how pathogens co-evolved with their hosts and what adaption strategies they employ to circumvent their hosts’ chemical defenses.
