Education: BS in Honors Biology in 1980 from the University of Illinois, Urbana; Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Washington University, St. Louis.

Brief bio: Jeff Harper grew up in Illinois, and spent summers in the canoe country of northern Minnesota. He did a post-doc at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and University of Wisconsin, Madison. His first academic position was at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla CA starting in 1991. He moved to Reno in 2004.
