Recognizing Plant Physiology authors: Baoda Han

Baoda Han, first author of CATION-CHLORIDE CO-TRANSPORTER 1 (CCC1) mediates plant resistance against Pseudomonas syringae

Current Position: Research Assistant

Education: M.S., Cell Biology, Northeast Forestry University, China, 2008-2011

Non-scientific Interests: swimming, singing, cooking, travel and other adventures with family

Brief bio: I’m fascinated by how plants adapt to diverse and challenging environments. My master research provided insight into the role of RAS1 in salt stress in Arabidopsis. This research experience inspired me to do more research on how plants manage to survive in harmful environments. I was first introduced to plant pathology when I worked on Arabidopsis resistance against Pseudomonas syringe DC3000 under the guidance of Prof. Heribert Hirt in KAUST. My research examined the function of intracellular ion transporter CCC1 in plant immunity, which is presented in this article. I obtained extensive research experience in molecular biology and genetics during this research experience. Currently, I am trying to investigate the effects of endophytes in plant salt tolerance, with the goal of gaining potential opportunities for crop productivity improvement.
