Xuan Ma, co-first author of Parental variation in CHG methylation is associated with allelic-specific expression in elite hybrid rice

Brief bio: In 2016, I joined the lab of Rice Epigenetic of Prof. Dr. Dao-Xiu Zhou, at National Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement, for my PhD. I worked during my PhD on the topic “Epigenetic Mechanism of Heterosis in Hybrid Rice.” We analysis the multi-omics characteristic, gene regulatory network and epigenetic basis of heterosis in hybrid rice used high-throughput sequencing technique. We analyzed the allele-specific expression and DNA methylome of an elite hybrid rice, our results suggested that symmetrical methylation at CHG context in parents play an important role in regulation of allele-specific expression in hybrids. In the future, I will further study on the molecular/genetic basis of heterosis and gene regulatory network in hybrid rice.

个人研究简介:

2016年进入华中农业大学作物遗传改良国家重点实验室周道绣教授课题组攻读博士学位,主要研究方向为水稻杂种优势的表观遗传学机制。我们利用高通量测序技术对水稻杂种优势的组学特征、调控网络和表观遗传学基础进行分析。我们对一个优异的三系杂交稻SY63及其亲本的DNA甲基化组和杂种中的等位基因特异性表达进行分析,发现亲本中对称的CHG甲基化对杂种的等位基因特异性表达存在调控作用。后期我将继续对水稻杂种优势的产生机制和基因调控网络进行研究。
