Recognizing Plant Physiology author Paula Henarejos-Escudero
Paula Henarejos-Escudero, first author of A dopamine-based biosynthetic pathway produces decarboxylated betalains in Chenopodium quinoa
Current Position: PhD Student in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Murcia
Education: Biotechnology degree, Master degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.
Non-scientific Interests: Nature.
Brief bio: Paula joined the Biochemistry and Enzyme Biotechnology group in 2016 with a collaboration scholarship in her last year of the Biotechnology degree at the University of Murcia. Following the degree, she won several introductory research fellowships. In 2019 she won a research fellowship to pursuit a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Currently, Paula researches molecular strategies in the production of bioactive compounds of plant origin as plant pigments and studies the betalains health-promoting effects in vivo using different mutant strains of Caenorhabditis elegans as a model animal.
