Recognizing Plant Direct authors: Divya Rajagopal
Divya Rajagopal, first author of Role of Arabidopsis RAB5 GEF vps9a in maintaining potassium levels under sodium chloride stress
Current Position: DST-WOSA Principle Investigator at National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore, India
Education: Ph.D. International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India
Non-scientific Interests: travelling, gardening, cooking
Brief bio: My basic interest in the area of plant biology is to gain an understanding of the molecular changes occurring upon exposure to environmental stress and to transfer these adaptations/ changes to develop plants with ability to show better performance under varied stress. My Ph.D. and postdoctoral positions have been centred on this aspect and provided me with the opportunity to explore this complexity. An understanding of the challenging intersection between various pathways/ effectors crucial for enabling plant responses to given environmental stress, will enable interpreting the biological meaning of these molecular mechanisms. When not in the lab, I like to travel and enjoy cooking and gardening.
