Recognizing Plant Cell authors: Jie Zhang

Jie Zhang, co-first author of Regulation of Aluminum Resistance in Arabidopsis Involves the SUMOylation of the Zinc Finger Transcription Factor STOP1

Current Position: Postdoc in VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology

Education: PhD in School of Life Science, Sun Yat-sen University

Non-scientific Interests: traveling, table tennis and birdwatching

Brief bio: In 2010, I started my journey of scientific research in Sun Yat-sen University under the supervision of Prof. Jinfa Wang and Prof. Hongbin Wang. During my PhD, I was interested in the study of molecular mechanism involved in the Fe deficiency, using Arabidopsis as a model plant. After I finished my PhD, I got the chance to join Prof. Chao-Feng Huang’s group in Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology. We found the important role of ubiquitination and SUMOylation in the regulation of the key Al-resistance transcription factor STOP1. In 2019, I started my new postdoctoral position in Prof. Dirk Inzé and Prof. Hilde Nelissen’s lab at PSB-VIB, focusing on the study of the physiological mechanism of maize in response to drought.
