Brief bio: Since 2016, I have been working in the bamboo research group of Prof. Yulong Ding and Prof. Qiang Wei at Nanjing Forestry University. My PhD thesis focused on the molecular mechanism of rapid growth of Moso bamboo. Using an integrated approach of anatomy, mathematics, physiology, and genomics, we investigated the growth process of a representative internode of Moso bamboo during rapid growth of Moso bamboo shoot. These experiments provide new insights into the rapid growth and cell wall growth of the Moso bamboo stem and show how environmental signals coordinate rapid growth and ultimately influence the morphology of the internodes of Moso bamboo populations.
