Mengting Zhang, co-first author of “Salicylic acid carboxyl glucosyltransferase UGT87E7 regulates disease resistance in Camellia sinensis

Brief bio: I graduated from Southwest University of Science and Technology in agriculture in 2019 (B.S). During my B.S. study, I had a preliminary understanding of green biological control of tea plants and had a strong interest in tea pathogens. In the same year, I had the honor to join the Anhui Agricultural University under the supervision of Prof. Chuankui Song for my master’s degree, focusing on the molecular mechanism of tea resistance to biological stress. We found that the glucosyltransferase UGT87E7 from Camellia sinensis could specifically forms salicylic acid glucose ester and plays a positive role in plant disease resistance by modulating salicylic acid homeostasis.

个人简介:我于2019年本科毕业于西南科技大学农学专业,在本科学习期间,初步了解了茶树绿色防控,并对茶树病原菌产生浓厚的兴趣。同年,有幸加入安徽农业大学茶树生物学与资源利用国家重点实验室,跟随宋传奎教授团队攻读硕士学位。硕士期间的课题主要为茶树抵御生物胁迫的分子机制。我与胡芸青合作,发现茶树糖基转移酶UGT87E7能够催化水杨酸,并特异性地形成水杨酸葡萄糖酯,并进一步阐明了其在茶树体内水杨酸的动态平衡及植物免疫中的生理功能。
