Recognizing Plant Physiology authors: Yang Yang
Yang Yang, first author of Cytidine-to-Uridine RNA editing factor NbMORF8 negatively regulates plant immunity to Phytophthora pathogens
Current Position: PhD student, College of Agronomy, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, China. Supervisor: Prof. Weixing Shan
Education: 2013-2017, Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, Northwest A&F University, under the supervision of Prof. Weixing Shan.
Non-scientific Interests: reading, drawing watercolor paintings, making handicrafts (Chinese knots, origami and temari balls)
Brief bio: I first got in touch with the interaction between plants and oomycetes when I was a junior. I was fascinated by the sophisticated plant immune system and decided to go further in this field. My research interests include pathogen effectors and the compatible interaction between Phytophthora pathogens and host plants. I’m currently working on the role of the RNA editing in mitochondria and chloroplasts in plant immunity.
