Current Position: PhD student at the Department of Genetics, Center for Molecular Medicine, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Education: MSc in Bioinformatics at Wageningen University, BSc in Biochemistry at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain.

Non-scientific Interests: Basketball, technology, reading.

Brief bio: After finishing my Bachelor studies in my home country, Spain, I decided to move countries and focus my education in biological data analysis, therefore pursuing a MSc in Bioinformatics at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. There, I had the opportunity to do my MSc thesis in the Laboratory of Phytopathology headed by Bart Thomma, developing the gene annotation pipeline described in this article. Currently I’m a PhD student in the group of Wigard Kloosterman at the UMC Utrecht, where I work on cancer genomics, focusing on novel sequencing technologies and the role of structural variation in cancer.
