Jia He: The Plant Cell First Author
Jia He, first author of “Establishing Physalis as a Solanaceae model system enables genetic reevaluation of the inflated calyx syndrome”
Current Position: Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Education: Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania; B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Peking University
Non-scientific Interests: Weightlifting, travel, photography
Brief bio: Jia He received his undergrad education in the School of Life Science, Peking University, China before coming to the US for graduate school. During his PhD, Jia worked in Scott Poethig’s lab studying the developmental functions of miRNAs in vegetative phase change, and the quantitative relationship between the miRNAs and their target genes. Jia developed deep interest in development, genetics and evolution. He joined the Lippman Lab at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 2019 as a postdoc researcher and has been focusing on the genetics, genomics and developmental biology of Physalis – an emerging Solanaceae reference system.
