Brief bio:
Dr. Iftikhar Ali is an Assistant Professor in Center for Plant Sciences and Biodiversity, University of Swat, Pakistan. His research area includes Plant Development and Plant Reproduction with a special focus on applying Genetics and Molecular techniques to solve several biological questions including how immotile male gametes are delivered for double fertilization in plants. He obtained his Ph.D in Plant Developmental Biology from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and discovered a delivery mechanism of male gametes in Plants. Further, he also worked on Plant Development during his Postdoctoral study under the kind supervision of Prof. Weicai Yang in State Key Laboratory of Molecular Developmental Biology, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China from January 2019 to July 2021. Recently, he developed a novel method of floral dip transformation in a model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. In the current project, Dr. Iftikhar reported an enzyme poly(A) polymerase PAPS1 involved in the regulatory mechanism of cell differentiation and maturation in Arabidopsis pollen.
ڈاکٹرافتخارعلی سوات یونیورسٹی، پاکستان میں شعبہ نباتیات کا اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر ہے۔ وہ پودوں کی نشوونما اور تولید پر تحقیق کررہاہے جن میں جینیات اور مالیکیولر تکنیکوں کے ذریعے متعدد حیاتیاتی سوالات کو حل کرنے پرخصوصی توجہ دی جاتی ہیں جیسا کہ دوہری فرٹیلائزیشن کو سرانجام دینے کیلیے پودوں کا غیر متحرک نر گیمیٹس کیسے حرکت کرتے ہیں؟ انہوں نے چینی سائنس اکیڈمی یونیورسٹی، بیجنگ سے پلانٹ ڈیولپمنٹ بائیولوجی میں پی ایچ ڈی کی ڈگری حاصل کی اور پودوں میں نر گیمیٹس کی ترسیل کا طریقہ کار دریافت کیا۔ اس کے علاوہ، انہوں نے جینیٹکس اینڈ ڈیولپمنٹ بائیولوجی انسٹی ٹیوٹ، چینی سائنس اکیڈمی، بیجنگ میں پوسٹ ڈاکٹریٹ کے دوران پودوں کو زیادہ مفید اور کارآمد بنانے پر بھی کام کیا۔
