Brief bio: During my PhD at Dr. Pramod Wangikar’s Lab in the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay I was trained in Computational Biology. I analyzed the metabolism of a cyanobacterium, Synechococcus sp PCC 7002, using Genome-scale Metabolic Models, Constraint Based Reconstruction Analysis (COBRA) tools and 13C-Metabolic Flux Analysis. After my graduation I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Costas Maranas at the Pennsylvania State University. At Dr. Maranas Lab, I work on understanding the metabolism of both photoautotrophic and heterotrophic microbial systems using a diverse set of computational tools including Genome Scale metabolic models, comparative genomics, Constraint Based Reconstruction Analysis, 13C-Metabolic Flux Analysis and kinetic modeling. The ultimate aim is to optimize these organisms as better platforms for producing biochemicals of industrial importance.
