Brief bio: From the beginning of my studies at the University of Heidelberg, I focused on molecular plant biology and obtained my Master´s degree in the lab of Dr. Sebastian Wolf, investigating cell wall signalling processes in Arabidopsis thaliana. In a half year internship in the chocolate industry I improved the post-harvesting processes of Theobroma cacao. Afterwards, I continued my academic career at the University of Heidelberg with a PhD to identify receptor-like proteins that are involved in cell wall signalling processes in the primary meristems, mainly the shoot apical meristem. Due to the versatile developmental processes that control cell division in the meristems, a toolkit to control gene expression in a high spatio-temporal resolution is required. Together with my great colleague Vadir and the collaborations with other plant research groups from the institute, we created a toolkit, that hopefully improves and facilitates plant research around the world.
